Dealers Transmission ExchangeJob Title: Parts Receiving Clerk Department: Parts / Warehouse Reports To: Warehouse Manager Employment Type: Full-Time Location : Western Chicago Suburbs Position Summary The Parts Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving, inspecting, verifying, organizing, and documenting incoming parts and materials. This position ensures that shipments are accurately received, properly stored, and made available to the appropriate departments in a timely manner. The Parts Receiving Clerk maintains accurate inventory records and helps keep the parts and receiving areas organized and safe. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Receive incoming parts, supplies, and materials from vendors and delivery services. Compare received items against purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices to verify quantities and part numbers. Inspect shipments for damage, shortages, incorrect parts, or other discrepancies. Record received parts accurately in the inventory management system. Label, organize, and properly store parts in designated locations. Notify the Parts Manager or appropriate personnel of damaged, missing, or incorrect shipments. Process returns, cores, warranty items, and other parts requiring vendor disposition. Maintain accurate documentation for receiving, returns, and inventory adjustments. Assist with inventory counts and investigate discrepancies when necessary. Pull and distribute parts to technicians or other departments as requested. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving and parts storage area. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, or other material-handling equipment as authorized and trained. Follow company procedures for workplace safety, inventory control, and receiving. Communicate professionally with vendors, delivery personnel, technicians and coworkers. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in parts, warehouse, receiving, inventory, automotive, equipment, or a related field preferred. Basic computer skills and the ability to learn inventory or parts-management software. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to read and interpret part numbers, purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documents. Good organizational and time-management skills. Ability to lift, move, and handle parts and materials safely. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Strong communication skills. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to regularly lift and move parts and materials, with weight varying by item. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and work in warehouse and storage areas. Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment after appropriate training. Ability to work in varying temperatures and warehouse/receiving environments. Work Environment The Parts Receiving Clerk works primarily in a parts department, warehouse, or receiving area. The position may involve exposure to moving equipment, delivery vehicles, dust, noise, and varying temperatures. Proper safety procedures and personal protective equipment must be followed at all times. Performance Expectations Success in this position requires accurate receiving and inventory records, timely processing of incoming shipments, proper organization of parts, attention to discrepancies, and dependable communication with coworkers and vendors.
