Parts Coordinator / Inventory Specialist

Kansas Paving / Kansas Ready Mix is looking for an experienced, organized and mechanically knowledgeable Parts Coordinator / Inventory Specialist to join our team. In this vital role, you will manage parts purchasing, inventory levels, and parts coordination for our fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. our expertise in supply chain management, automotive diagnostics, warehouse management, and parts administration will ensure seamless parts availability and optimal inventory control. This is a fast-paced position where attention to detail, good judgment and the ability to multitask are critical. Our fleet includes everything from pickup trucks to semi trucks, ready mix trucks, and heavy construction equipment. You will work closely with mechanics, drivers, operators, vendors and management to identify what is needed, locate the correct part, determine how quickly it is needed and make sure the part gets where it needs to be. Responsibilities Order parts for passenger vehicles, pickup trucks, semi trucks, trailers, ready mix trucks and heavy equipment Research and identify the correct parts using equipment and parts systems Manage procurement processes, including purchasing, demand planning, pricing, and order management to meet project timelines. Oversee shipping & receiving activities, ensuring proper documentation and timely delivery of parts. Collaborate with internal teams on parts administration, vehicle systems diagnostics, and equipment repair needs. Utilize Microsoft Office tools for data entry, reporting, and internal communication to streamline operations. Enter purchase orders, invoices and inventory information accurately Assist with emergency parts sourcing when equipment is down Support warehouse management by organizing storage areas, conducting cycle counts, and maintaining safety standards. Qualifications Proven experience in supply chain management, procurement management, or inventory control within automotive or construction environments. Knowledge of diesel equipment and construction equipment Experience working with parts for trucks, automobiles and/or heavy equipment Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, automotive parts & accessories management, and vehicle systems. Experience working with parts vendors and suppliers Familiarity with inventory management systems such as ERP platforms and order management systems. Hands-on warehouse experience with shipping & receiving procedures; forklift certification is preferred. Mechanical knowledge related to automotive or equipment repair is highly advantageous. Excellent negotiation skills combined with supplier management experience to secure competitive pricing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for data entry, reporting, and communication purposes. Ability to work effectively within a team environment while managing multiple priorities efficiently. Vendor / Aftermarket Knowledge: The ideal candidate will have established knowledge of key parts vendors and suppliers and understand where to source parts quickly and competitively. You should also be comfortable researching aftermarket solutions and cross-referencing parts when an OEM part is unavailable, too costly or when an appropriate aftermarket alternative is available. Inventory Control: Receiving and scanning parts into inventory Correctly identifying and labeling parts Maintaining accurate inventory counts Organizing shelves and storage areas Monitoring frequently used parts Identifying low stock items Controlling obsolete and excess inventory Reconciling inventory discrepancies Keeping the parts department cleaned and organized Work Schedule: Full-time position Must be able to work 11-hour days if needed Schedule may vary based on operational needs Must be dependable and able to work in a fast-paced environment Additional Qualifications: Bilingual skills are a plus Previous fleet, construction, trucking, dealership or heavy equipment parts experience is preferred Experience with inventory mana…
