Job Summary The Fleet/Courtesy Service Attendant is responsible for the preventative maintenance and refueling of university vehicles. Department-Specific Responsibilities Refuels university vehicles, maintains tire pressures, checks/refills vital fluids, washes and vacuums vehicles. Delivers and picks up university vehicles from local maintenance/repair facilities. Maintains vehicle maintenance logs. Drives customers on an as needed basis. Provides 24-hour a day emergency response as needed. Provides courtesy jump-starts, vehicle locations, and refueling on campus, as part of the Motorist Assistance Program. Performs preventative maintenance on light duty vehicles including, changing wiper blades, vehicle lighting lamps, and battery replacements. Removes and/or installs items on vehicles such as seats, bed covers, or hitches. Qualifications EDUCATION Required High School Diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED) WORK EXPERIENCE Required 1 year of customer service experience Preferred 1 year of light automotive maintenance and driving experience LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Required Valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire Preferred Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Light Duty Maintenance Certification SKILLS Required Ability to build strong customer relationships General knowledge of light vehicle maintenance Ability to maintain vehicles for safe operation Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions Ability to use computers and basic knowledge of spreadsheets Ability to work in team environment, and to interact and communicate with a wide variety of people Able to deal with many tasks concurrently including irate customers, answering questions, and reporting problems Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position as well as the ability to move about the workplace for long durations. It requires effective communication, the ability to operate machinery, tools, and controls. The role requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders/stairs, and to position one's self in low level positions, detect a variety of chemicals and/or gases. The role requires the ability to move in tight spaces to perform and complete inspections. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
