Position Overview The Part-Time CDL Delivery Driver & Equipment Operator is responsible for safely delivering plants, trees, soil, mulch, rock, and other landscape materials to customer and project locations. This position will operate delivery trucks and equipment used to load, transport, unload, and place materials, including loaders, excavators, and skid steers. This is a hands-on, year-round position for someone who is experienced, safety-conscious, comfortable working outdoors, and willing to help wherever needed. Key Responsibilities Safely operate commercial delivery trucks and related delivery equipment. Deliver plants, trees, soil, mulch, rock, and other garden and landscape materials. Load, secure, transport, unload, and place materials safely and accurately. Operate loaders, excavators, skid steers, and other equipment used in garden center and delivery operations. Confirm delivery details, quantities, and placement instructions before leaving the garden center. Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers, team members, and project crews. Protect customer property, Patterson’s equipment, and delivered materials during each job. Complete required delivery records, vehicle inspections, and other documentation. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe truck and work area. Assist with moving plants, trees, materials, and equipment throughout the garden center as needed. Identify and promptly report equipment, vehicle, safety, or delivery concerns. Perform other hands-on duties that support garden center and delivery operations. Required Qualifications Valid commercial driver’s license and ability to operate the trucks required for the position. Safe driving record and ability to meet company and insurance requirements. Experience operating loaders, excavators, skid steers, and similar heavy equipment. Knowledge of safe loading, material securement, transportation, and unloading practices. Ability to follow delivery instructions and use sound judgment in the field. Dependable attendance and availability for two consistent workdays each week throughout the year. Professional, respectful, and service-oriented approach with customers and coworkers. Ability to work independently while remaining part of a collaborative team. Preferred Qualifications Experience delivering plants, trees, bulk landscape materials, or similar products. Experience working in a garden center, nursery, landscape, construction, agricultural, or material-supply environment. Ability to perform basic vehicle and equipment maintenance and minor repairs. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and move items weighing up to 75 pounds. Ability to move items weighing up to 100 pounds using proper equipment or team assistance when appropriate. Ability to safely handle trees, plants, bagged products, bulk materials, tools, and equipment. Ability to climb into and out of trucks and equipment throughout the workday. Ability to bend, reach, stand, walk, and work on uneven outdoor surfaces. Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, dust, and other seasonal conditions.
