Position Summary: Houston Oaks is excited to welcome a passionate individual to our team! The Painter & Drywall Specialist maintains the exceptional aesthetic standards of Houston Oaks across all member clubhouses, resort accommodations, dining facilities, and auxiliary structures. This role is responsible for full-scope drywall installation and finishing, expert paint and stain applications, surface restoration, and inventory management. Operating with a high degree of craftsmanship, accountability, all aimed at fostering connections and ensuring our team thrives together in a spirit of collaboration and shared purpose. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Deliver service with care and attention, always prioritizing quality and the well-being of the Members. Drywall, Gypsum Board & Finishing o Hanging & Installation: Measure, cut, and install sheetrock/gypsum board for new construction, remodels, and structural repairs. o Patching & Repairs: Perform seamless drywall repairs, hole patching, and surface restoration. o Taping, Floating & Finishing: Tape, float, and sand drywall to achieve smooth, flawless surfaces, including Level 4 and Level 5 finishes. o Texturing: Apply custom wall and ceiling textures, including orange peel, knockdown, and hand textures to match existing finishes seamlessly. Painting, Coating & Surface Preparation o Site Preparation: Protect floors, furniture, fixtures, and surrounding landscaping using drop cloths, plastic sheeting, tape, and paper barriers. o Material Preparation: Properly thin, stir, screen, and mix paints, urethanes, and specialized coatings according to manufacturer specifications. o Application Techniques: Execute professional paint finishes using brushes, rollers, and airless sprayers across interior, exterior, and metal surfaces. o Product & Chemical Knowledge: Demonstrate full understanding of paint sheens (flat, eggshell, semi-gloss, gloss), formulations (oil-based, water-based, urethanes), and solvent applications (thinners, acetones, alcohols, mineral spirits). o Cleanup & Safety: Clean and maintain tools, spray machines, and brushes after each job; safely dispose of hazardous chemical waste, rags, and materials per safety guidelines Caulking, Grout & Wood Finishing o Caulking: Remove old sealant and apply acrylic, silicone, and urethane caulks cleanly along baseboards, moldings, windows, doors, and wet areas. o Tile & Grout Maintenance: Remove damaged grout and mix, install, and seal new grout in kitchens, restrooms, and pool facilities. o Staining & Refinishing: Perform wood touch-ups, stain applications, and refinishing on custom furniture, doors, exterior decks, structural timber, and hardwood flooring. Inventory, Planning & Communication o Organize, track, stock, and maintain inventory levels for paints, stains, solvents, and application supplies. o Plan work assignments, estimate material quantities, and communicate project timelines effectively to facilities leadership. o Maintain clean, organized, and secure shop storage areas. Any other duties, as assigned. Required Skills and Qualifications: 3–5+ years of professional painting, drywall hanging/finishing, and carpentry touch-up experience, preferably in luxury hospitality, commercial, or high-end residential settings. Proficiency operating airless paint sprayers and power sanding equipment. Deep knowledge of paint chemistry, sealants, solvents, and surface prep standards. Strong attention to detail, proactive work ethic, excellent time management, and a collaborative, respectful team mindset. May be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
