Packing and Shipping Specialist

Job Summary We’re hiring a Packing and Shipping Specialist to get outgoing orders wrapped, labeled and ready for the carrier. You’ll work at a packing bench, matching each order to its paperwork before the items go into a box that fits. Finished packages get sorted by carrier and moved to the dock. It’s steady work. Volume usually picks up toward the end of the week, and we’ll walk you through the labeling software during your first few shifts, so nobody’s expected to arrive already knowing it. Some days are slow, others aren’t, that’s how shipping goes. Responsibilities Checking each order against the packing slip. Wrap fragile items and pick a box that fits. Printing shipping labels and sticking them on squarely. Sort finished packages by carrier and stage them near the dock door. Weighing odd-shaped boxes. Bench cleanup at the end of each shift. Sometimes helping unload deliveries when receiving is short, which your supervisor will mention ahead of time. Qualifications You notice a wrong size or a missing item before the box gets taped shut, even when the bench is crowded. Being on time for scheduled shifts matters, since carriers pick up at set times and won’t wait. You can read packing slips and labels in English and follow spoken instructions from a lead. When orders stack up, staying calm and finishing them one at a time keeps the day from getting away from you. As a team player, you pitch in when a coworker’s station falls behind. We generally train new people on our labeling system, so willingness to learn matters more than what you already know. Keeping track of your time so a batch is ready before pickup is part of the job.
