Packing and Shipping Specialist

Job Summary You'll spend most of your shift packing customer orders and getting them ready for the carrier. Each order shows up on a screen at your station, and you gather the items, check them against the packing slip and seal the box with enough padding to survive the trip. Short days are rare. We're a mid-sized shipping operation, and while the morning is usually steady, it turns into a fast-paced environment as pickup time gets close. Between orders you'll weigh packages and print labels, then stage finished boxes by the dock door for the driver. Responsibilities Packing orders in boxes or mailers with the right padding. Check each item against the packing slip before sealing. Weighing packages and printing shipping labels. Taping seams and applying labels. Restock boxes, tape, and bubble wrap as they run low. Staging finished packages by the dock door for carrier pickup, which sometimes means lifting boxes up to 40 pounds. Flattening empty cartons. Setting aside anything damaged or short and telling the supervisor so the order doesn't sit. Qualifications You catch a wrong size or a missing item before the box is taped shut, even when the line is backed up. Keeping your station organized matters when orders stack up, because it's easier to work through them in the order they came in. Being on time matters here, the carrier pickup doesn't wait for anyone. Reading packing slips in English is part of the job, and you'll typically pick up the label printer and scanner after a short walkthrough. We want a team player who passes along a quick heads-up when supplies run low. When plans change mid-shift, you can switch to whichever task needs hands and stay calm while doing it.
