Duties Operate tractor-trailers across various routes including OTR (over-the-road) driving routes, ensuring timely deliveries of freight such as refrigerated goods, hazardous materials, or specialty cargo. Manage loading and unloading of freight using manual handling techniques or equipment like forklifts when necessary, adhering strictly to safety protocols. Navigate efficiently using GPS navigation systems to optimize routes and meet delivery schedules while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Handle diverse cargo types including dangerous goods, hazardous materials, or specialty loads like tanker or flatbed freight, following all hazardous materials regulations. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations. Load and unload freight safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks; ensure proper securing of loads for transport. Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route adjustments, delivery status, or any issues encountered on the road. Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on refrigerated trailer operations, flatbed hauling, tanker transport, or hazardous materials handling. Demonstrated knowledge of logistics cargo handling and route driving best practices in compliance with FMCSA and hazardous materials regulations. Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the cargo type (e.g., Hazmat endorsement). Experience operating manual transmission trucks and using GPS navigation systems for route planning. Familiarity with truck loading/unloading procedures, forklift operation, and manual handling techniques for freight management. Prior delivery driver experience preferred, especially within OTR settings involving complex logistics and time-sensitive deliveries.
