Role Description The Owner Operator Truck Driver role at SH Express Transport Inc. is an on-site driving position based out of Sioux Falls, SD, operating primarily on the road across assigned routes. This is a full-time opportunity for an independent truck driver who owns and maintains their own commercial vehicle, handling freight transport between terminals, customer locations, and distribution centers. Day-to-day responsibilities include safely operating a commercial truck, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, managing load securement, and complying with all federal, state, and company safety regulations. The Owner Operator will coordinate with dispatch on scheduling, route planning, and delivery windows, and will maintain accurate logs, bills of lading, and delivery documentation. The role also involves communicating professionally with customers and staff, managing fuel and maintenance needs, and ensuring the truck remains in good working condition. Qualifications Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record and strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards. Proven experience as a long-haul or regional truck driver, including safe operation of a commercial vehicle and effective navigation and route planning skills. Ownership or lease of a well-maintained truck that meets company and regulatory requirements, with commitment to regular maintenance and inspections. Strong organizational and documentation skills, including accurate logkeeping, handling of bills of lading, and timely reporting of delivery and incident details. Professional communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with dispatch, shippers, receivers, and team members. Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, adapt to changing schedules, and consistently meet delivery deadlines. Willingness to comply with all safety policies, hours-of-service rules, and company procedures, including drug and alcohol testing requirements. High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior experience as an owner operator or independent contractor is strongly beneficial.
