Owner-Operator Intermodal + $150k/Yr + Fuel Surcharge! (IL)
Herman N LogisticsLocal Owner-Operator Intermodal Opportunity – Chicago Terminal Terminal & Route Scope: Working out of the Chicago yard, running loads within a 150-mile zone across Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. You can live within 30 miles of the terminal, but keep in mind trucks cannot stay parked at the yard for your time off (and drivers out of Elwood have to sort out their own truck and trailer parking). Revenue & Weekly Earnings: Estimated yearly gross brings in $145,000 to $150,000, averaging roughly $2,785 to $2,885 every week. You get paid based on activity using Rand McNally mileage (paid whether you're loaded or empty) plus fuel surcharges, with drop-and-hook averaging $70 a pop. Shifts & Home Time: It's a 24/7 setup where you're your own boss, pick your own hours, and can grab weekend loads if you want extra cash. Daily home time is totally doable with zero forced dispatch. Truck Specs & Equipment Rules: Your rig needs to be a 2001 model or newer, free of any check engine lights, and completely stripped of all outside decals before day one (both sleepers and day cabs are fine). You handle your own base plates, permits, and tolls, though weekly deductions are optional ($150 for tolls and $40 for plates). Compliance & Onboarding Requirements: You'll need at least 9 months of verifiable Class-A experience behind you. A Hazmat endorsement has to be picked up within 60 days of orientation. Orientation itself happens in Chicago and pays a flat $500 (no travel mileage pay)—you have to drive your tractor in for an inspection, leave it for 48 to 72 hours for equipment setup, and bring a bill of sale, title, and Form 2290 in your name. Contractor Discounts & Support: Save some cash with a 100% fuel surcharge pass-through, a dedicated fuel card with discounts, lower third-party insurance rates, and special deals on tires, parts, and maintenance.
