Role Description The Owner Operator role at American Marine Express in Jacksonville, FL is a full-time, on-site position focused on safely transporting freight while providing professional service to customers and partners. Day-to-day responsibilities include picking up and delivering loads on schedule, completing required logs and documentation, performing basic vehicle inspections, and communicating proactively with dispatch and operations staff. Owner Operators manage their equipment, maintain compliance with DOT and company safety standards, and follow all applicable regulations and procedures. The role also involves coordinating load planning, optimizing routes, and maintaining a clean, professional presence when representing the company at customer and terminal locations. Qualifications Possess a valid CDL (Class A) with a clean driving record and verifiable experience in regional or over-the-road freight transport. Demonstrated skills in safe vehicle operation, routine equipment inspections, and adherence to DOT and FMCSA regulations. Ability to manage trip planning, basic route optimization, and time management to meet delivery schedules. Strong communication skills for coordinating with dispatch, customers, and terminal staff, including clear documentation and reporting. Experience as an Owner Operator or independent contractor, including managing maintenance, insurance, and basic business operations. Familiarity with intermodal operations, container handling, or port/rail yard environments is beneficial.
