Role Description The Overseas Sourcing Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY, supporting the sourcing and procurement of products from international suppliers. On a day-to-day basis, this role assists with identifying and evaluating overseas manufacturers, coordinating sample requests, and tracking product specifications and pricing. The assistant maintains regular communication with suppliers regarding lead times, order status, quality requirements, and shipping arrangements, while updating internal teams on any changes or issues. Responsibilities include preparing and organizing purchase orders, maintaining accurate records in sourcing and inventory systems, and supporting negotiations by gathering cost and market data. This role also collaborates with product development, logistics, and finance teams to help ensure smooth production schedules and timely delivery of goods. Qualifications Experience or strong interest in international sourcing, procurement, or supply chain operations, particularly with overseas vendors and manufacturers. Proficiency with spreadsheets and business software (e.g., Excel, ERP or inventory systems, and email/communication tools) to manage data, orders, and supplier information. Strong organizational, time management, and follow-up skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects, deadlines, and detailed documentation. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including clear, professional communication with overseas partners; multilingual abilities (especially Mandarin or other relevant languages) are a plus. Basic understanding of logistics, shipping terms (Incoterms), and international trade practices; familiarity with quality control processes is beneficial. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build productive supplier relationships, while demonstrating reliability and professional integrity. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in sourcing or operations. Comfort working on-site in New York, NY in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
