Outside Commercial Truck Equipment Sales RepresentativeJob Overview Discount Hitch & Truck Accessories / D&H Commercial Fleet is seeking an experienced, driven Outside Commercial Sales Representative to join our growing Texas commercial division. Family-owned and operating since 1974 , Discount Hitch & Truck Accessories has grown into one of Texas's leading truck accessory and commercial upfitting companies, with 12 locations across Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio . This is not an entry-level sales position. We are specifically looking for someone with experience selling commercial truck equipment , including flatbeds, service bodies, commercial truck bodies, van packages, and fleet upfits . The ideal candidate already understands the commercial truck industry, knows how to work with dealerships, fleet managers, contractors, municipalities, and other commercial accounts, and can develop new business while growing existing relationships. This position offers a base salary plus performance-based commission , with commission opportunities varying based on sales volume and the amount of business generated. For the right salesperson with an established book of business, there is significant earning potential. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain relationships with commercial truck dealerships, fleet accounts, contractors, municipalities, and other commercial customers throughout Texas. Prospect and generate new business with a strong emphasis on commercial truck equipment and fleet upfitting . Sell and develop opportunities involving flatbeds, service bodies, utility bodies, commercial truck bodies, van shelving/packages, ladder racks, toolboxes, lighting, hitches, fuel tanks, and complete customized work-truck builds . Conduct regular onsite visits with dealerships, fleet managers, and commercial customers to understand their equipment needs and recommend the appropriate solutions. Build relationships with dealership commercial departments and help D&H become their preferred truck-equipment and upfitting partner. Manage opportunities from initial prospecting and quoting through closing, installation coordination, delivery, and post-sale follow-up. Develop new accounts while continuing to grow established high-value customers. Identify opportunities in construction, service, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, oil and gas, municipalities, utilities, landscaping, transportation, and other industries operating commercial vehicles. Identify and pursue government and municipal bid opportunities . Work closely with purchasing, operations, installers, warehouse teams, and management to ensure jobs are completed accurately and on time. Maintain accurate CRM records, including customer activity, opportunities, quotes, follow-ups, and sales pipeline. Provide management with regular reporting on sales activity, pipeline development, competitive activity, and opportunities to increase market share. Use professional networking and social media when appropriate to promote D&H Commercial Fleet's capabilities and develop new relationships. Travel throughout the assigned territory, with periodic travel to other Texas markets including Houston, DFW, Austin, and San Antonio for major customers and sales opportunities. Required Experience Commercial truck equipment sales experience is strongly preferred and will be a major factor in candidate selection. Experience selling products such as flatbeds, service bodies, utility bodies, van equipment, commercial truck accessories, or complete fleet upfits . Existing relationships or a book of business within the commercial truck, dealership, fleet, contractor, or work-truck industry is highly preferred . Demonstrated ability to prospect, develop, and close new commercial accounts. Understanding of commercial dealerships, fleet operations, truck equipment, and the upfitting process.
