Responsibilities
• Plan and assign outbound freight based on truck availability, driver hours, equipment requirements, and pickup and delivery appointments.
• Build efficient load plans that reduce empty miles, unnecessary waiting, and service delays.
• Coordinate with dispatchers to confirm driver availability, home-time commitments, and realistic transit times.
• Review load details and identify scheduling conflicts before assigning freight.
• Monitor truck availability and adjust plans when drivers are delayed, equipment breaks down, or customer needs change.
• Communicate load assignments, schedule changes, and potential service issues promptly.
• Coordinate with customer service, customers, and brokers as needed regarding freight availability and appointments.
• Maintain accurate load information and planning updates in the transportation management system.
• Support driver productivity while balancing customer commitments and operating costs.
Qualifications
• Previous experience in trucking load planning or dispatch with direct responsibility for assigning freight is required.
• Strong understanding of truckload operations, transit times, driver hours of service, and appointment scheduling.
• Ability to manage multiple trucks and loads while staying organized and accurate.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and follow-through.
• Comfortable using transportation management systems, email, and spreadsheets.
• Able to work on-site in El Paso, TX.
Preferred Experience
• McLeod Software.
• Planning outbound freight from El Paso.
• Working with solo and team drivers.
• English and Spanish communication skills.
