Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, on over-the-road routes across various states. Plan routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and fuel efficiency. Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring proper securing of hazardous or dangerous goods in compliance with Hazardous Materials Regulations. Maintain compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) standards, and Hazardous Materials Regulations during all aspects of driving and cargo handling. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checking load securement, tire condition, brakes, lights, and fluid levels. Document all deliveries accurately, including delivery receipts, logs, inspection reports, and incident reports when necessary. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to confirm delivery schedules and address any route or cargo issues promptly. Qualifications Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record. Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially in OTR routes involving freight transportation over long distances. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and automobile transportation is highly desirable. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, Hazardous Materials Regulations, and hazard communication procedures. Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and handle manual loading/unloading tasks efficiently. Strong navigation skills using GPS systems for route planning on over-the-road routes. Excellent manual handling skills for loading/unloading freight safely while adhering to safety protocols. Ability to comply with all safety regulations related to dangerous goods and hazardous materials transportation.
