OTR Intermodal Dispatcher - Houston Trucking
JLM LogisticsAbout Us JLM Logistics is a Houston-based intermodal trucking, drayage, transload, and warehousing company working out of the Bayport and Barbours Cut corridor. We move containers between the ports, rail ramps, and customers across Texas and beyond. The Role You'll run dispatch for our OTR intermodal imports and exports. That means planning and covering container moves from port and rail to delivery, keeping drivers loaded and on schedule, and making sure customers know where their freight is. What You'll Do Plan, assign, and track OTR intermodal loads (import, export, and rail) from pickup to delivery and empty return Build efficient driver schedules and keep the fleet moving Watch container availability, holds, last free days, and per diem/demurrage deadlines so we don't take on extra charges Schedule appointments with terminals, rail ramps, warehouses, and consignees Stay in contact with drivers all day about route changes, delays, and problems on the road Send customers proactive updates, and raise issues early instead of after the fact Track driver hours (HOS/ELD) and help keep us DOT compliant Record accessorials (detention, chassis splits, pre-pulls, storage, overweight) accurately so billing is right the first time Work closely with our CSR, warehouse, and billing teams on handoffs What We're Looking For 2+ years of dispatch experience, preferably in intermodal, drayage, or OTR Working knowledge of Houston-area terminals (Barbours Cut, Bayport) and rail ramps Understanding of chassis, container types, overweight rules, and HOS regulations Comfortable with a TMS, ELD/GPS tracking, and Microsoft Office Stays calm and organized under pressure and solves problems well Clear, respectful communication with drivers and customers Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional after-hours or weekend coverage Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year Benefits: 401(k) Health insurance Work Location: In person
