Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers with refrigerated or flatbed trailers designed for automobile transportation across over-the-road (OTR) routes. Use GPS navigation systems to plan and follow efficient routes, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Load and unload vehicles carefully, utilizing manual handling techniques and proper cargo securing methods to prevent damage during transit. Comply with all DOT (Department of Transportation) and hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods or hazardous materials. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers, including checking for mechanical issues and verifying load security. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and cargo documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery schedules, and any on-road issues using GPS navigation tools and communication devices. Qualifications Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record and experience in truck driving, particularly with tractor-trailers used for automobile transportation. Proven experience in delivery driving, freight handling, or logistics cargo handling within an OTR setting. Knowledge of refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized equipment used for vehicle transport. Familiarity with FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols related to dangerous goods. Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and handle manual loading/unloading processes efficiently. Strong navigation skills using GPS systems to optimize route planning on long-distance routes. Excellent manual handling skills combined with a safety-first mindset to ensure secure cargo transport at all times.
