Responsibilities Safely load and unload freight using manual handling techniques and proper equipment to ensure cargo integrity. Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems while adhering to over-the-road (OTR) driving schedules and delivery deadlines. Transport freight across long distances, maintaining compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) standards, and hazardous materials regulations. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues. Manage logistics cargo handling, ensuring accurate documentation and secure loading/unloading procedures. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery status, or any unforeseen issues during transit. Skills Proven experience operating commercial box truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving across OTR routes. Knowledge of proper cargo loading, securement, and handling procedures. Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for dangerous goods. Skilled in GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time adjustments. Ability to handle manual transmission trucks with manual handling techniques for cargo management. Excellent driving skills with a clean safety record; experience with automobile transportation is a plus.
