This position is at the L05 level with an hourly pay range of $33.93 to $42.93

Reporting to the Manager, Material Management, this position is responsible for the supply chain functions of the Operating Room (OR) Department including, but not limited to the procurement of equipment and supplies with purchase orders and managing Operating Room inventories for the Yukon Hospital Corporation (YHC). The incumbent is also responsible for the effective management of various medical loaner equipment including sending equipment for repair and obtaining replacement loaner equipment. This position also arranges ordering of loaner equipment for surgeries and keeps records of consignment items for reorder.

This position is responsible for accurate organization, inputting data and documentation of daily purchasing and receiving activities. This position also researches products for the Operating Room and works in conjunction with the Clinical Care Manager OR/ER, Manager, Material Management and the Senior Procurement Officer to help evaluate various procurement options.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • In depth knowledge of purchasing principles, practices and methods
  • In depth knowledge of inventory control principles and practices
  • Knowledge of computerized purchasing and inventory control systems
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures
  • Basic knowledge of Operating Room and related supply chain needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills both written and oral
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Solid computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Good research skills, including sourcing through vendors and internet searches
  • Strong keyboarding skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity

The successful applicant is required to have completion of Grade 12 or equivalency along with a minimum of two or more years’ experience providing procurement related services in an institutional setting; one to two years supply chain experience preferably in a healthcare setting; and a valid class 5 driver’s license with a clear driving abstract. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.

The following are considered desirable: knowledge of the Meditech system; completion of, or working towards completion of, a diploma/certificate from a recognized procurement body such as the Supply Chain Management Program (SCMP).
