Operations Supervisor

Hours of Operation- 7AM to 4PM Monday to Fridays POSITION SUMMARY: Manage operational activities for geography and provide shipping and receiving management functions in a fast-paced chemical distribution environment. Build, develop, and lead a team of highly responsive members to provide exceptional performance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OPERATIONS RELATED: · Build, develop, and lead a team of employees into a highly responsive group that meets the required standards. · Ensure clear goals, objectives, and performance standards are established and communicate to each employee. · Oversee the shipping and receiving of products. · Determine and manage truck scheduling and routing. · Arrange for outbound freight and minimize freight costs. · Negotiate freight rates in conjunction with the Director of Operations. · Ensure material handling equipment is properly maintained at appropriate intervals. · Ensure regulatory and safety training is presented before the required deadlines. · Implement the Hazardous Security Plan and Emergency Response Plan, as appropriate, and serve as an Emergency Coordinator for your location(s). · Implement company operational and quality processes and procedures. · Perform inventory cycle counts on an as needed basis and a total inventory count at the end of each year. · Configure warehouse space including racks and bulk areas for optimal storage. · Review and audit weekly time sheets accounting department for processing. · Review and audit expense reports and submit them to the accounting department for processing. · Address customer credit issues with the Accounting Department as appropriate. · Utilize ERP system to review daily workload. Process order fulfillments, item receipts, oil verifications and other transactions as assigned. Monitor the dashboard for tasks and assignments. · Participate in special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned. (ONGOING) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PURCHASING RELATED: · Determine and maintain proper product stocking levels to meet anticipated customer demands. Communicate and work with sales representatives as necessary. · Create all product purchase orders and submit them to the suppliers, verifying pricing and quantity. Track as necessary. · When requested, review supplier invoices verifying pricing and quantity. · Coordinate warehouse transfers with other facilities. · Maintain lead times and freight terms of each supplier. · Schedule product pickups with carriers and suppliers. · Arrange for all inbound freight and minimize freight costs. · Negotiate freight rates in conjunction with the Operations Supervisor and Director of Operations. · Work with the President, CFO, Director of Operations, and Sales Representatives to minimize aged and or dead and slow inventory. · Call suppliers for pricing and availability of products. · Coordinate and complete direct shipments for your geography as required. · Coordinate vendor product returns. · Perform inventory reconciliations and process inventory adjustments. · Manage and control quarantine products. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in work experience and other sources of formal training. Minimum of three years’ operations and or purchasing experience to include distribution, warehousing, employee safety and regulatory compliance, transportation management and purchasing. Computer literacy (i.e., ability to input data with minimum training) and familiarity with ERP or MRP computer software. Above average oral and written communication skills to ensure that information is transmitted clearly, thoroughly, and tactfully. Must have excellent mathematical skills.
