Operations Manager, Kitting
VeritivJob Purpose: Our General Manager - Kitting Operations will be responsible for managing day to day operations and performance of team of employees using machinery and equipment to assist with packaging steps along a production line, in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications. This role will also provide supervision, direction, and leadership for the location to raise the standard of performance in meeting the goals of our internal and external customers. Job Responsibilities: Plan and coordinate work activities of warehouse functions (directly and through supervisors), including kitting, production, receiving, picking, shipping, security, and inventory control. Develop and implement specific objectives and performance measures for each functional area and individual to improve performance, as well as ensuring accountability and that employees receive proper training and skills development. Lead selection and hiring of new kitting operations employees. Interpret, understand and act on individual and collective performance and makes recommendations for and implements improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse and kitting operations. Knowledgeable of safe work practices, policies and procedures and performs all duties in a safe manner. Support division safety committee with the objective of an accident free workplace. Ensure regular safety meetings are conducted; complete and review safety incident reports as necessary; recommend changes to assist in maintaining a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with company and government policies and regulations (e.g., Safety, OSHA, HazMat, etc.). Manage complex projects and initiatives to conclusion, on time and within budget. Oversee physical inventory in the warehouse. Implement company policies and procedures according to company guidelines for assigned areas of responsibility. Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications: Some travel may be required. Work Experience: 3-5 years of related experience of successful supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent. 5-10 years of related job experience. Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment. Ability to work quickly and efficiently. A thorough understanding of distribution management (customer service, sales, purchasing, warehouse, credit, information systems, and logistics) that is preferably from a large, national, or decentralized organization. A through understanding of government regulations (DOT, OSHA, HazMat, etc.). Basic experience of simple office/operational systems. Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required. Experienced in providing leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes, and challenges. Experienced in strategic management and leadership across company functions directing substantial resources over long time frames. Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives. Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful). Strong planning and organization skills are required. Warehouse experience required preferably working in a distribution environment. Education: Bachelor's Degree Preferred Working Conditions: The work environment for this position requires: Regularly working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse where exposure to cold, heat, damp or humid conditions may occur. Exposure to loud noise. Exposure to dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and moving vehicles.
