Operations Manager
Great Lakes Fasteners, Inc.Job Objective: This player-coach will work in concert with their warehouse associates to operate the distribution center and kitting department. Responsibilities include: personnel decision-making, picking, packing, shipping, receiving, inventory management, VMI, delivery, and kitting/packaging and receiving departments. Responsibilities: · Accountability for shipping area of distribution center including customer site warehouse. · Provides direction to all warehouse associates; handles professional development, hiring, firing and PTO coverage. · Ensures quality, accuracy and timely delivery of products to customer site. This includes managing all equipment, materials, supplies and distribution. · Maintain inventory and supply records, oversee logistics, and manage the distribution process and scheduling. This includes management of inventory counting, rotation and quality of stock and equipment. · Negotiate contracts and schedule maintenance and repair for all NY facilities, and equipment within the DC. · Responsible for budgets and processes, and solutions to ensure the DC consistently operates in a cost effective and efficient manner. · Work in a proactive, hands-on, fast-paced environment. Understanding operating procedures of equipment and machinery is preferred. Operating with a “safety first” credo is vital. · Knowledge of computer applications and software used for inventory control and tracking, plus knowledge of standard computer applications. · Responsible for quality assurance and level one parts inspections for all products as they enter and exit the order process. · Maintains a rigorous cleaning regimen in the DC to insure a smooth running and safe work environment. · Constructs strategies about future capacity and staffing requirements · Produces regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to ensure operating metrics are achieved. · Other duties as assigned Internal / External Cooperation: Maintain contact with all internal and external customers to ensure high levels of satisfaction and productivity. Demonstrate ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees. Job Specifications: College undergraduate degree or exceptional and pertinent work experience 3-5 years of warehouse experience Works with a high-degree of urgency and is deadline/timeline driven. Ability or willingness to read and interpret blueprints Desire to work in a team environment and cross train across departments Must have high degree of confidence and professionalism. Must be excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing. Must have experience in working with computers and be able to generate reports within this environment to monitor DC activity.
