Operations Manager
 
Department: Manufacturing Operations

Position Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for achieving the facility’s operating and financial objectives while meeting the expectations of all stakeholders, including ownership, customers, suppliers, and employees. This role provides leadership across yard operations, processing, maintenance, and logistics while ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable operations. The Operations Manager plays a critical role in employee development, operational excellence, and delivering consistent, high-quality service.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the facility business plan and achieve financial performance targets, including throughput, margins, budgets, and cost control
  • Lead and coordinate yard operations, processing, logistics, maintenance, and commercial activities to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, consumers, and service partners; resolve escalated customer or supplier issues
  • Communicate and reinforce SIC Recycling’s values, safety standards, operating principles, and strategic objectives
  • Lead regular management and employee meetings to ensure alignment, accountability, and communication
  • Collaborate with other SIC Recycling operations leaders to implement best practices and maintain consistent processes across locations
  • Partner with corporate leadership on operational, safety, compliance, and process improvement initiatives
  • Support planning and execution of customer, commercial, and community-facing initiatives
  • Oversee facility maintenance, equipment condition, security, environmental compliance, and overall appearance of the property
  • Represent SIC Recycling with key suppliers, consumers, and industry partners
  • Provide input on hiring, training, development, coaching, and performance management of supervisors, managers, and hourly employees
  • Maintain effective working relationships with vendors and service providers

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial operations management
  • 3–5 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in ferrous and non-ferrous scrap recycling or related industries is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and manage operational performance
  • Proven experience handling escalated customer and supplier issues
  • Strong understanding of financial metrics, budgeting, cost control, and operational reporting
  • Excellent analytical, planning, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass required drug screening and background checks

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work is performed in an industrial yard and office environment
  • May involve exposure to heavy equipment, outdoor weather conditions, and varying noise levels
  • Ability to walk the yard, climb stairs, and occasionally lift or move materials as required

Pay Information: 

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $130,000. This reflects a reasonable estimate of the targeted base salary for this role. Based on factors such as geographic location and candidate qualifications, actual base pay is determined when an employment offer is made.
