Operations Manager - Building Materials Experiences

Operations Manager – Warehouse & Distribution Lansing, Michigan | Full-Time | Direct Hire | On-Site Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift Confidential Employer | Building Materials Industry Henpen Consultants is seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to lead warehouse and delivery operations for a growing building materials company. This position supervises a team of 6–10 warehouse employees and oversees inventory accuracy, shipping and receiving, delivery coordination, and workplace safety. The ideal candidate enjoys leading a team, solving operational problems, and assisting with warehouse activities to keep customer orders moving accurately and on time. Responsibilities Supervise, train, develop, and motivate warehouse employees. Coordinate shipping, receiving, order picking, truck loading, and unloading. Maintain inventory accuracy through daily cycle counts, organized storage, and bin locations. Investigate product losses and implement corrective actions. Conduct daily safety walkthroughs, monthly safety meetings, and quarterly driver safety meetings. Enforce company policies and address employee performance concerns. Plan delivery routes and coordinate transportation resources to support timely, profitable deliveries. Monitor driver hours of service and support compliance with federal DOT requirements. Coordinate preventive maintenance for vehicles, warehouse machinery, and equipment. Improve warehouse layout, storage utilization, loading efficiency, and productivity. Partner with purchasing and sales to support customer needs. Qualifications At least 3 years of forklift operating experience required. 2 years of supervisory experience preferred. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a hands-on warehouse environment. Familiarity with inventory systems, barcode scanners, Microsoft Office, and transportation management technology. Knowledge of warehouse safety, driver safety, and DOT compliance. Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform essential job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be at least 18 years old and able to complete a drug screening and background verification. Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
