Ocean Aviation Services Limited operates two Challenger 350/3500 aircraft located in Saint John, New Brunswick, providing flight services to Ocean Capital Holdings Limited and its group of companies. The Ocean Aviation Flight Department is part of the long-standing Irving Family aviation operations, with a strong history of safety, professionalism, and service excellence. As we continue to evolve, we are seeking a leader who can support both flight operations and departmental management as we build for the future. Our focus for the upcoming year is to strengthen our team through career development, succession planning, and operational leadership. With this initiative, we are looking for individuals with strong corporate jet experience, a commitment to safety and service, and the ability to contribute to the management and continuous improvement of the Flight Department. This role is ideal for a seasoned pilot who is ready to step into (or continue in) a senior leadership position, combining operational oversight with active flying duties. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to return home to Atlantic Canada or to make Saint John their new home. The position is based in Saint John, NB and will provide national and international flight services to the Ocean Capital group of companies. 

Position Requirements:

  • Valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
  • Minimum 4000 hours Total Flying Time.

  • Minimum 1000 hours Multi-Engine Turbine PIC.

  • Previous Management or Chief Pilot/Deputy Chief Pilot experience, within a corporate or commercial flight department, would be an asset.

  • Experience managing or contributing to flight operations, safety programs, or SOP development.

  • Corporate Jet time an asset.

  • International flight operations an asset.

  • Flexibility in schedule.

  • Customer Service oriented, strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and adjust to frequent schedule changes due to weather or business requirements.

  • Valid Canadian Passport.

  • Residency in Saint John, NB and surrounding area required.
     

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the flight department (as per the CARs) through leadership and oversight, reporting directly to the Accountable Executive, while supporting pilots and operational staff.
  • Carry out Chief Pilot duties (as per the CARs), and ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and operational policies.
  • Support scheduling, crew coordination, and operational planning.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training of flight crews.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, maintenance providers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor the preparation and delivery of operational reports, safety updates, and departmental performance summaries to senior leadership.
  • Contribute to long-term planning, fleet management discussions, and departmental improvements.
  • Responsible for passenger safety, in the conduct of corporate aircraft flight operations.

Education:

  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree and/or Aviation Flight College Diploma
