Overview:

Det-Tronics, a leader in industrial safety systems and part of Spectrum Safety Solutions, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee and optimize the performance of our Bloomington, MN facility. This role is critical to ensuring operational continuity and driving efficiencies across quality control, finance, supply chain, and project management.

As a specialized division within a global organization, we need a hands-on, adaptable leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and takes ownership of essential business functions. The Operations Manager will play a key role in aligning day-to-day operations with strategic objectives, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership-

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the new facility, including ensuring orders are processed and ready for production, material is ready as needed to build product, and that products are shipped on schedule to meet customer expectations
  • Lead and manage a cross-functional team focused on engineering, manufacturing, finance, quality, and shipping/receiving.        
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the team members and future develop the existing collaborative, high-performing culture
  • The ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, wiring lists, 3D models, and to use basic measuring tools such as DVMs and dial calipers to make confirming measurements
  • Maintain high corporate EH&S standards through team engagement and serve as the interface point for state and local regulations compliance
  • Coordinate with planner/buyer to be sure inventory needs are understood and to agree on shipping dates and methods.  Manage inventory levels proactively to maximize turnover
  • Ensure that all production equipment is calibrated, routinely serviced, and available when needed for production activities
  • Own and document key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop and deliver presentations including metrics and department status for the larger business management team
  • Lead special projects to support the company's strategic objectives using standard project management tools and techniques, including schedule development and risk management


Quality Assurance-

  • Maintain and expand existing quality control systems including reviews and updates to existing build and test procedures and tracking data on incoming material compliance
  • Complete regular reviews and updates of the current quality control system and serve as the contact point for audits by customers or regulatory agencies
  • Serve as the interface point for customers related to quality and lead efforts to resolve issues with shipments, customer problems, and field failures


Financial Oversight-

  • Work with the corporate finance team to manage operational budgets, conduct regular reviews of financial status, and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Provide operational insights to support strategic financial planning


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management or a related field, with Operations Management experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in operations management, with experience in quality assurance, financial oversight, vendor management, and project management
  • Experience leading a team or as part of team developing and implementing a strong EH&S culture with a demonstrated understanding of local, state, and national regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to select and prioritize tasks in situations with multiple, conflicting demands
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with PC based tools
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.  The ability to develop a plan and use that to engage and motivate team


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building and presenting common financial reports and metrics for management review
  • Experience using ERP systems for planning, manufacturing, and financial activities and reporting with SAP JDE preferred
  • Ability to use Lean tools for business process optimization, conducting activities such as 3P, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping
