Open Deck or Reefer Dispatcher

Job Summary As an Open Deck or Reefer Dispatcher, you’ll coordinate freight movements and open-deck transportation from planning through delivery. You’ll connect drivers, customers, and internal teams, using dispatch tools and clear communication to keep loads organized and respond quickly when plans change. Your impact: Accurate dispatching and timely updates help drivers complete deliveries safely and give customers reliable shipment information. Responsibilities Coordinate load assignments, routes, schedules, and updates for road transportation operations. Communicate with drivers and customers using multi-line phone systems; manage calls with professional phone etiquette. Enter and maintain shipment, driver, and dispatch details in transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software. Track freight with GPS (Global Positioning System) and geographic information system (GIS) tools; support fleet management and transportation planning. Work with supply chain and logistics teams, review dispatch information, and follow Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Experience Strong communication, customer service, organizational, analysis, and data-entry skills; accurate typing and effective internal communication are essential. Experience in dispatching Open Deck loads for at least 2 years. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, transportation management systems, vehicle dispatch software, and multi-line phone systems is helpful. Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine experience are preferred; knowledge of GPS, GIS, and DOT regulations is an asset.
