Role and Responsibilities of Ocean Import Coordinator:
The Ocean Import Specialist supports international freight operations by overseeing import shipments, coordinating communication between logistics partners, and ensuring documentation accuracy. You will manage shipment tracking, customs coordination, freight release activities, and customer updates to help maintain efficient cargo movement.
• Track ocean import shipments and monitor daily cargo movement activities.
• Communicate with customers and logistics partners to resolve shipment-related concerns.
• Update shipment records, prepare arrival notices, and gather customs entry documentation.
• Coordinate with customs brokers regarding clearance and release confirmations.
• Manage freight release processes with carriers and co-load agents.
• Share shipment information with customers while maintaining service expectations.
• Identify operational challenges and support improvements in supplier performance.
• Assist with managing transportation costs and supporting profitable shipment solutions.
• Complete other assigned logistics activities, including ocean export support when necessary.
Required Skills and Experience of Ocean Import Coordinator:
• Five or more years of ocean import experience or similar logistics experience.
• Ability to understand business and financial impacts within logistics operations.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to process improvement.
• Ability to organize multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Understanding of INCO terms and international freight processes.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with LOGIS or CargoWise platforms is preferred.
• Hazardous materials certification is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits of Ocean Import Coordinator:
This position offers an hourly pay range of $20.00 - $27.00 based on qualifications and experience.
