The business is seeking an experienced and ambitious ocean export professional who can combine hands-on operational expertise with supervisory responsibility, supporting a busy export department handling high volumes of international shipments. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys being involved in day-to-day operations but is also looking to develop their leadership career. About the Role The Ocean Export Supervisor will take responsibility for supporting the day-to-day running of the ocean export operation, with a particular focus on high-volume Full Container Load (FCL) shipments. This is a hands-on supervisory position, not a purely managerial role. You will remain actively involved in processing shipments from A–Z, managing bookings, documentation, carrier coordination, and customer requirements while providing guidance and support to the wider team. The opportunity would suit an experienced Senior Ocean Export Specialist, Team Lead, or Supervisor who is confident managing complex export activity and has the ambition to take on greater responsibility as their career develops. Key Responsibilities Manage A–Z ocean export operations, primarily focusing on FCL shipments Handle high volumes of export files from initial booking through departure Support and oversee the daily workload of the ocean export team Coordinate bookings, vessel schedules, equipment availability, and shipping instructions Liaise with steamship lines, trucking providers, warehouses, customers, and overseas agents Prepare and review export documentation, including bills of lading and shipping instructions Monitor shipment milestones, documentation deadlines, and carrier cut-offs Ensure shipments are processed accurately and in accordance with export regulations Resolve operational issues, shipment delays, and customer escalations Maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and service providers Support operational improvements and help maintain efficiency across the department Provide guidance and training to less experienced team members Candidate Requirements Strong experience within international ocean freight forwarding Significant hands-on FCL ocean export experience Proven ability to manage high-volume A–Z export operations Strong understanding of ocean export documentation, carrier bookings, and shipping procedures Experience coordinating with steamship lines, trucking providers, and overseas agents Previous Senior Export Specialist, Team Lead, or Supervisor experience preferred Comfortable remaining operationally hands-on while supporting other team members Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple shipment priorities Confident handling customer relationships and resolving operational challenges Ambitious and motivated to progress into broader leadership responsibilities Must be based in or able to commute to New Jersey What You Can Expect Onsite position based in New Jersey Hands-on ownership of high-volume FCL export operations Opportunity to combine operational responsibility with team leadership Exposure to a busy international ocean freight operation Opportunity for an experienced Senior Export Specialist to step into supervision Work alongside experienced freight forwarding professionals Long-term career progression for an ambitious individual
