Job Title: Ocean Export Representative Location & Job Type: Jersey City, NJ | Full-Time | Onsite Company Overview Altius Talent is partnering with an established freight forwarder in the New Jersey area that is looking to add an experienced Ocean Export professional to its team. The company handles international cargo across major global trade lanes and is known for a hands-on, service-driven approach. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Ocean Export Representative to manage full container load (FCL) export shipments from booking through vessel departure and documentation release. This is an onsite role for someone who knows the export process, works well with carriers, shippers, and truckers, and can keep shipments moving accurately and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Manage FCL ocean export shipments from booking to final document release Book cargo with steamship lines and coordinate container pickup, delivery, and gate-in with truckers and terminals Track cut-offs, earliest return dates, and vessel schedules to avoid rolling cargo or incurring unnecessary fees Prepare and issue export documentation, including shipping instructions, bills of lading, and VGM submissions File and monitor AES/EEI filings in compliance with U.S. export regulations Communicate proactively with customers, overseas agents, carriers, and vendors on shipment status and any exceptions Resolve issues such as delays, equipment shortages, documentation discrepancies, and rolled bookings Review invoices, verify charges, and support billing and cost accuracy on each file Maintain accurate shipment records within the company's operating system Key Skills & Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years of experience in freight forwarding, with a strong focus on ocean export Hands-on experience handling FCL export shipments Solid working knowledge of export documentation, AES filing requirements, and Incoterms Familiarity with carrier booking platforms and freight forwarding or transportation management systems Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines at once Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work onsite in Jersey City, NJ Strong organizational and problem-solving skills What's on Offer Base salary of $60,000 – $70,000, depending on experience Full-time, onsite position with an established forwarder Opportunity to work in a focused FCL export environment Stable team with room for long-term growth Interested?
