American River LogisticsLocation: Farmingdale, NY Job details: Full time- In person position/hybrid options available Schedule: Monday – Friday Benefits: Health insurance, Life insurance, 401K We are looking for an ocean export coordinator to join our team based on Long Island . Knowledge of export compliance operations responsibilities is a requirement of this position to defend the practices of an export freight forwarding professional. Air export background / experience favorable. The candidate must be hard-working, self-motivated, accountable, extremely detail-oriented, and well organized. The ocean export coordinator will report to and work with the Branch Manager and be responsible for liaising between customers, suppliers, and transport companies to ensure an efficient operational service is provided. Essential duties and responsibilities are to include, but not limited to: Manage the export process from start to finish. This may include air export duties. Knowledge and experience with FMC rate tariff filing and regulations Provide customers and overseas agents with competitive pricing and service options Negotiate pricing with all vendors (trucker, carriers, intermodal, etc.) to ensure the best pricing and service for our customers Develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers to develop more business opportunities Liaise with customers to obtain information to ensure correct measures are in place and all customer needs are met Liaise with customers and operations’ departments ensuring all documents are received within the designated time frame Liaise between vendors, suppliers, forwarders and agents to obtain up to date shipment information Ensure customers are fully informed of the progress of their shipments Provide transport companies with the relevant information to ensure customer requirements are met Ensure correct documentation is on file and act accordingly as set out in the instructions Cover other staff members when required; and Any other duties as required by management for the smooth and efficient operation of the department Knowledgeable of U.S. export laws and regulations as it pertains to ocean and air exports Continuous Improvement Work with the operations team to continually grow and improve processes and business performance Support change in the role necessary to take the department and business forward Work to achieve personal objectives set at appraisal and/or those set monthly or quarterly Increase customer satisfaction and business share through proactive and regular contact Other responsibilities and duties will be assigned as they may develop or may be necessary to fulfill the above position. Key Performance Indicators Achieve agreed individual objectives Understand and adhere to all company policies and procedures, and U.S government rules and regulations relevant to the role Requirements: Minimum 5 years of working experience in an international ocean freight department Basic computer knowledge to include Outlook, Windows, spreadsheets, Excel, Word etc. Knowledge of domestic intermodal trucking, EEI filing, FMC rate filing and customer service experience College degree preferred or equivalent working experience Strong phone, e-mail communication and computer skills Air export experience favorable Why you’ll love working for us We are more than just an international logistics company.
