Ocean Export Coordinator | Atlanta, GA | Salary of up to $65,000 This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented freight forwarding professional with a strong understanding of ocean export operations and international shipping procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating ocean export shipments from booking through to final departure, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately, deadlines are met, and customers receive a high level of service throughout the shipping process. Key Responsibilities Coordinate end-to-end ocean export shipments, from initial booking through to vessel departure. Arrange bookings with ocean carriers and shipping lines, negotiating rates where appropriate. Prepare and process export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and shipping instructions. Ensure compliance with U.S. export regulations and international shipping requirements. Coordinate with customers, overseas agents, carriers, trucking companies, and internal departments. Monitor shipment milestones, vessel schedules, and cut-off dates to ensure timely departures. Manage AES/EEI filings through the Automated Export System, where required. Track shipments and proactively communicate schedule changes, delays, and other issues to customers. Prepare quotations, process shipment charges, and assist with invoicing and file closing. Resolve operational issues efficiently while maintaining strong customer relationships. Maintain accurate shipment records and ensure all documentation is properly filed. Work collaboratively with the wider operations team to deliver efficient and reliable freight forwarding services. Requirements Previous experience in ocean export operations within an international freight forwarder. Strong understanding of ocean export documentation, shipping procedures, and international logistics. Experience coordinating bookings with ocean carriers and managing shipment schedules. Knowledge of AES/EEI filings and U.S. export compliance requirements. Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously. Proficiency with freight forwarding software; CargoWise experience is an advantage. A customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills.
