JOB SUMMARY:
The New Product Introduction (NPI), Research & Development (R&D), Outsource Purchasing Specialist will play a critical role in the procurement process for research and development projects and new products, ensuring that materials, components, and services are sourced effectively and efficiently to meet project timelines and quality standards. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product development, quality, and manufacturing, to support the successful launch of new products. Obtains the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management. Responsible for developing, negotiating, and administering major or highly complex subcontracts, ensuring compliance on supplier cost, schedule, legal and performance criteria. Manages all material related issues pertaining to new program development and serves as the main focal point for varied outsourcing projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sourcing and Procurement:
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for new products, components, and materials. Help identify best suppliers from the base for prototyping and development.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, delivery, and compliance with specifications.
• Develop and maintain purchased component budgets for NPI and R&D projects, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
• Coordinate hand-off to production buyers after launch and stabilization.
• Responsible all phases of the subcontract from initiation of the business case for make or buy decisions through requests for proposals, subcontract management plans, negotiation strategy, and cost accountability.
• Assumes the lead role in selection and negotiation for unique or customer-sensitive subcontracts.
• Closely monitors subcontractor and/or supplier performance to ensure contractual agreements, terms, and conditions comply.
• Conduct supplier site visits and rates them as to production capability, performance and delivery, capacity, supply chain management and other key business criteria. Monitors an
