NPI Materials Manager, Compute, Storage & Networking Platforms
IRENAbout IREN IREN is building the infrastructure behind the next era of AI. We design, build, and operate massive-scale data centers, and we’re racing to deploy some of the largest fleets of GPU and CPU compute on the planet. This isn’t incremental growth — it’s a full-throttle sprint to power the frontier of AI and high-performance computing. Our Technical Sourcing team sits at the center of that mission, securing the compute, services, and partnerships that let IREN move faster than anyone else in the industry. The Role IREN is looking for a NPI Materials Manager, Compute, Storage & Networking Platforms to own the materials flow behind every new platform we evaluate before it goes into production. When Engineering wants to test a new GPU server, qualify a CPU platform, validate a storage array, or bring up a new switch and optics generation from an OEM, you make sure the right hardware, in the right configuration, with every accessory it needs, is on the lab or data center floor on time. You’ll be the connective tissue between Engineering, Technical Program Management, Technical Sourcing, Data Center Operations, and our OEM and silicon partners. NPI hardware rarely follows the normal purchase order path — it’s samples, loaners, early-access units, and pre-production configs with changing BOMs — and you’ll build the process discipline that lets IREN run more qualification programs in parallel without anything falling through the cracks. If you like being the person who always knows exactly where every unit is and when the next one lands, this is the seat for you. Own the end-to-end materials plan for every NPI program: GPU and CPU servers, storage platforms, network switches, NICs, optics and transceivers, cabling, racks, PDUs, and the spares, test fixtures, and ancillary gear engineering needs alongside them. Partner with Engineering and Technical Program Managers to translate test, qualification, and validation plans into concrete material requirements, quantities, configurations, and need-by dates. Drive the supplier engagement and material readiness strategy for sample, early-access, and pre-production hardware across OEMs, ODMs, and distributors; negotiate and manage loaner and evaluation-unit agreements, extensions, returns, and conversion paths to support accelerated platform qualification and production readiness. Build and own the NPI materials schedule across concurrent programs; surface risk early and drive mitigation when lead times slip, allocations shift, or configurations change mid-program. Coordinate inbound logistics with Data Center Operations and lab teams: receiving, inspection, asset tagging, staging, and hand-off for rack and install so hardware is test-ready the day it lands. Maintain accurate, serial-level inventory of NPI assets across sites, including chain of custody, location, and disposition when programs close (redeploy to production, return to vendor, or scrap). Manage engineering change requests that affect materials in flight and keep BOMs synchronized with what is physically on the floor. Work with Technical Sourcing, Procurement, and Finance on quotes, purchase orders, budget tracking, and evaluation-to-purchase conversions for platforms that pass qualification. Serve as day-to-day point of contact for OEM, ODM, and silicon-vendor logistics and account teams on NPI shipments, RMAs, and firmware or component swaps. Establish and continuously improve NPI materials processes, templates, and dashboards; define and report metrics such as on-time material availability and program readiness. Capture lessons learned from each NPI cycle and feed them back into sourcing strategy, standard configurations, and the production procurement process. Required: 5+ years of experience in materials management, NPI, supply chain, or hardware program operations, with direct experience supporting hardware engineering in a data center, hyperscale, cloud, AI/HPC, …
