Non-Ferrous Metals Buyer

TAS RECYCLING is looking for a knowledgeable, motivated Non-Ferrous Metals Buyer to purchase scrap metal at our yard and develop new industrial accounts. This position combines hands-on metal buying, customer service, and visits to prospective business customers to grow our scrap supply. Responsibilities Identify and grade copper, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, and other recyclable non ferrous metals. Inspect materials for quality and contamination, and purchase scrap within company-approved pricing guidelines. Ensure accurate weights, grades, pricing, and purchase records. Provide professional service to customers bringing material to the yard. Identify and contact industrial businesses that generate scrap metal. Visit prospective customers to understand their materials, volumes, and recycling needs. Prepare quotes and negotiate purchasing terms within approved company guidelines. Build long-term relationships with customers and suppliers through consistent follow-up. Coordinate pickups, container service, and material handling with dispatch and yard operations. Follow company safety procedures and purchasing requirements. Qualifications Knowledge of non-ferrous scrap metal identification, grading, and pricing. Experience in scrap purchasing, metal recycling, industrial sales, or account development preferred. Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills. Good math skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently, follow up on leads, and collaborate with yard staff.
