Night Shift Port Trucking Dispatcher / Manager

Job description Mid Lane Carriers is a well-established drayage trucking company based in Wilmington, CA. With over 10 years of experience, we take pride in our fleet of 45 trucks. Our operations primarily focus on local deliveries within a 150-mile radius from the ports of LA/LB. Currently, we are seeking potential candidates to join our rapidly expanding team. At Mid Lane Carriers, we are specifically looking for a dependable and competent full-time Lead Dispatcher. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in dispatching drivers, scheduling containers, and navigating all terminals effectively. The role requires proficiency in making terminal appointments, routing drivers to the correct terminal and delivery locations, coordinating deliveries, and managing per diem and demurrage while minimizing dry runs to terminals and deliveries. We are seeking an individual who is self-motivated and eager to grow alongside our team. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, from 3:30 pm to 2:00 am. Qualification: The ideal candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have strong organizational skills, work independently, possess great communication skills, take initiative, and pay attention to detail. Requirements: 3+ years in port trucking Ability to schedule and track containers Coordinate repair with mechanics Manage Yard Team Dispatch and monitor drivers Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Uses good judgment in making decisions in emergency and routine situations Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills Ability to effectively interpret contract rules and requirements Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills Must have a pleasing personality and ability to get along with adults Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities in situation requiring diplomacy, friendliness, confidentiality, poise, tact, and good judgment Proficient in Spanish (required) Duties: You will perform various tasks, including but not limited to: · Completing all night tasks/moves Securing appointments with the terminals for empty terminations and or import loads out when requested or missed loads Scheduling deliveries with customers Assisting drivers with any issues Emailing customers Monitoring containers at the port Updating Excel, scanning, filing Various office duties and assistance Scheduling drivers to make freight deliveries/terminal Communicating with customers about freight details, delivery or pickup times, and special handling requests Planning pre-determined routes and accommodating route changes as needed Maintaining records of dispatched calls, driver routes, route changes, as well as delivery and pickup times Why?
