Nigh Shift Yard Jockey

Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Night Shift Yard Jockey, where you will be the vital link in our logistics chain, expertly maneuvering tractor-trailers and freight within our yard to ensure smooth operations overnight. This role offers an energetic environment focused on precision, safety, and efficiency. As a Yard Jockey, you will be responsible for safely moving refrigerated trailers and Non-CDL Refer straight trucks using expert driving skills and GPS navigation tools. Your efforts will directly contribute to timely deliveries and the seamless flow of goods across our distribution network. This position is perfect for motivated drivers who thrive in a fast-paced setting and take pride in maintaining high safety standards under FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Duties Safely operate commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers , within the yard and between our warehouses as needed. Maneuver refrigerated trailers and other freight equipment with precision using GPS navigation systems. Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) Move trailers to designated locations for loading, unloading, or staging, ensuring proper trailer placement for delivery or pickup schedules. Maintain accurate documentation of trailer movements, load & unload activities, and yard inventory logs. Conduct safety inspections on trucks and trailers before use, reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly. Follow all safety procedures and FMCSA regulations to promote a safe working environment for yourself and your team. Qualifications Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) Proven experience in delivery driving or freight logistics within a yard environment. Familiarity with refrigerated trailer handling Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while loading/unloading cargo or moving trailers within the yard. Knowledge of DOT regulations related to commercial trucking and FMCSA safety standards. Excellent driving record with experience in truck loading/unloading procedures for freight including dangerous goods or hazardous materials. Ability to work night shifts reliably while maintaining high safety standards and attention to detail.
