Role Description The MRU Railcar Repair Technician is a full-time, hybrid role based in Devon, AB, with some work-from-home tasks acceptable where operationally feasible. In this position, the technician inspects railcars and related equipment, identifies defects, and performs repairs and adjustments to ensure safe, compliant operation. Typical day-to-day tasks include mechanical troubleshooting, routine maintenance, component replacement, and documentation of all work performed. The technician collaborates with operations and customer service teams to prioritize work orders, support timely turnaround, and uphold quality standards. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, accurate reporting, and occasional coordination with clients to address service needs. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills related to Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting to safely inspect, diagnose, and repair railcars and associated systems. Candidates should possess skills related to Appliance Repair to handle mechanical and component-level repairs using appropriate tools and methods. Candidates should possess skills related to Customer Satisfaction and Communication to interact professionally with team members and clients and support positive service experiences. Experience in industrial, mechanical, or rail-related environments, including basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools, is beneficial. Strong attention to detail, ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and capability to maintain accurate maintenance records are required. Ability to work safely in an industrial setting, including adherence to PPE and safety procedures; relevant safety or mechanical certifications are an asset. Reliable transportation to Devon, AB, and willingness to work in a hybrid arrangement with both on-site and limited remote tasks.
