MRO Buyer

Position Purpose: This individual is responsible for meeting purchasing needs for assigned areas of commodities and/or services including planning, requisition review, process and system input and supplier selection through delivery. Essential Functions : Initiate, develop, implement, and track cost reduction programs for MRO items. Negotiate and react to price changes from suppliers. Negotiate short- and long-term contracts with suppliers. Track and report plant spending. Track and control plant supplies. Assist with administrative projects. Check inventory levels within the plant Keep vendor accountable for vendor managed inventory Education and Training Associate's degree in supply management, Business or a related field preferred Minimum Qualifications Knowledgeable of MRP purchasing applications. Ability to negotiate effectively. Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a purchasing related function. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft office programs. Physical Demands Constant sitting, occasional standing and walking Occasional walking within plant Minimal bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing and reaching Lift up to 15 lbs., infrequently 30lbs. Carry up to 15 lbs., infrequently 30lbs. up to 1-25 feet Push/Pull up to 10 lbs. of force 1-5 feet Environmental Conditions Work Environment: Office/Administrative Lighting: Adequate.
