Motive Power Technician (Industrial Forklift Batteries)
E-DISTRIBUTIONJob Overview We are seeking an experienced and reliable Motive Power Technician to service, repair, and maintain industrial forklift batteries and charging systems. This position involves troubleshooting battery performance issues, rebuilding industrial batteries, replacing individual cells, performing preventative maintenance, and providing field service at customer locations throughout the DFW area. The ideal candidate has experience with lead-acid industrial batteries, DC electrical systems, and material handling equipment environments. Duties Perform preventative maintenance on industrial forklift batteries and chargers. Diagnose battery failures and charging system issues. Replace damaged or failed cells within industrial lead-acid battery assemblies. Conduct battery decontamination, cleaning, watering, and equalization services. Install and remove industrial batteries using proper lifting and handling equipment. Repair battery cables, connectors, and related components. Test voltage, specific gravity, and battery performance. Inspect and repair battery charging equipment. Accurately complete service reports and work orders. Follow all OSHA, environmental, and safety requirements when handling batteries and electrolyte. Maintain positive customer relationships while performing on-site service. Requirements Required Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to safely lift and handle battery components and service equipment. Ability to work independently in warehouse and industrial environments. Preferred Experience servicing industrial lead-acid forklift batteries. Experience replacing battery cells and rebuilding industrial battery packs. Knowledge of DC electrical systems and battery chargers. Forklift, material handling, or field service experience. Experience using voltmeters, hydrometers, and battery testing equipment. Welding or fabrication experience is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to frequently lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to bend, kneel, stand, and work around industrial equipment. Comfortable working in warehouse and manufacturing environments. Able to safely work around battery acid and electrical systems. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to safely lift and handle battery components and service equipment. Ability to work independently in warehouse and industrial environments.
