Job Summary State 48 Machinery is seeking an experienced Field Service Semi-Truck & Fleet Mechanic to join our growing team in the Phoenix Valley. This is a senior-level field service position requiring extensive hands-on experience with Class 7 and 8 commercial trucks, semi-trucks, and transport trailers. The ideal candidate will possess advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently in the field, and a strong commitment to quality workmanship. Experience with heavy construction equipment is a plus, but not required. What We're Looking For Experience : Senior commercial truck diesel diagnostic and repair experience Brand Knowledge : Expert working knowledge of Kenworth, Freightliner, International, and major fleet truck platforms. Engine & Powertrain : Specialized diagnostic and repair experience with Cummins, Detroit Diesel, and Caterpillar engines. CDL Requirement: Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred. Financial assistance toward obtaining a Class B CDL available for qualified candidates. Tools & Certifications: Must own master-level personal hand tools. Must be able to obtain/maintain MSHA certification (State 48 will provide and pay for MSHA training). What You'll Do Work independently in the field, applying well-rounded mechanical knowledge, strong diagnostic skills, and sound judgment to troubleshoot and complete repairs with minimal supervision. Diagnose and repair medium and heavy-duty diesel engines, emissions, and drivetrains. Troubleshoot complex electrical networks, chassis wiring, and advanced sensor failures. Perform field maintenance, air brake repairs, suspensions, steering, and safety inspections. Utilize electronic diagnostic software (e.g., Cummins Insite) to isolate complex system faults. Complete accurate service reports and inspection documentation for all field work. Location & Residency Requirement Work Location: On the road (Field Service / Direct Home Dispatch) Established Service Area: Phoenix Metro Valley, including Buckeye, Surprise, Anthem, Cave Creek, Carefree, Fountain Hills, Apache Junction, Queen Creek, and San Tan Valley. Candidates must reside within our established service area or be willing to relocate. Technicians are assigned take home service trucks and compensated port-to-port, making geographic availability an essential requirement.
