Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Millwork Optimizer / CNC Programmer to bridge the gap between our technical department and the shop floor. In this role, your primary mission is efficiency: taking digital design files and organizing them to achieve the maximum material yield with minimal waste . You will be responsible for preparing, nesting, and programming parts for our CNC machinery, ensuring our production floor runs seamlessly and cost-effectively. What You’ll Do (Core Responsibilities) Maximize Material Yield: Analyze project engineering data to nest parts onto sheet goods (MDF, plywood, veneers, partical board) strategically minimizing scrap and drop-off pieces. CNC Programming: Convert engineering data and shop drawings into exact machine-ready files (G-Code/nesting programs) for our CNC routers, panel saws, and edgebanders. Quality Assurance & Verification: Review CAD data, hardware specs, material thicknesses, and grain directions in prior and correct design errors before machining begins. Inventory & Material Allocation: Collaborate with procurement and shop leads to specify exact sheet sizes, quantities, and wood species required for upcoming production runs. Troubleshoot & Improve: Work closely with CNC operators to resolve any programming errors on the floor and continuously optimize the digital-to-physical manufacturing workflow. What We’re Looking For (Requirements) Software Proficiency: 2+ years of hands-on experience using industry-standard cabinet/millwork software (Such as Thermwood , CutRite, wood woop, Autocad, Imos(construct) ). Industry Background: Strong knowledge of custom millwork fabrication, cabinet construction methods, wood materials, and hardware integration. Blueprint Literacy: High proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings, shop drawings, and 3D submittal packages. Math & Logic Skills: Strong geometric layout skills with an understanding of tolerances, tooling, and feed speeds. Detail Focus: An obsessive eye for detail; a single wrong click can ruin expensive materials, so accuracy is paramount. Experience & Education Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a technical, programming, or engineering role within an automated millwork or cabinet manufacturing environment. High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in Woodworking Technology, CAD Drafting, or Manufacturing Engineering is highly preferred. Pay: $40,000.00-$50,000.00 per year Benefits: Casual dress Dental care Extended health care Life insurance On-site parking Paid time off Work Location: In person
