Microsoft Pre-Sales Engineer
TECHNOLOGENTThe Opportunity: We are seeking a Microsoft Pre-Sales Engineer to help customers translate business and technology needs into practical Microsoft-based solutions. This customer-facing role supports Technologent’s sales organization through technical discovery, solution architecture, customer presentations, and opportunity development. Working with Account Executives, Microsoft, technical teams, and delivery partners, the engineer develops recommendations across Microsoft cloud, infrastructure, productivity, identity, security, and management technologies, and supports opportunities from initial discovery through technical validation and close. Role: Microsoft Pre-Sales Engineer Experience: 5+ years in technical pre-sales, solution architecture, systems engineering, consulting, or a similar customer-facing technical role Location: Houston, TX Employment Type: Full Time Responsibilities Serve as a trusted technical advisor and partner with Account Executives to identify customer requirements, technical challenges, business priorities, and Microsoft solution opportunities. Lead technical discovery workshops and assessments of customers’ Microsoft environments, architecture, licensing, security posture, cloud strategy, and infrastructure; translate findings into solution recommendations. Engage customer stakeholders from engineers and architects to IT leaders and executives; communicate technical designs and business value clearly. Support account planning and opportunity strategy, technical qualification, customer presentations, proposals, demonstrations, proof-of-concept activities, and responses to technical questions and objections. Design high-level solutions across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Sentinel, Windows and Windows Server, Active Directory and hybrid identity, Azure Virtual Desktop, Teams, collaboration, Copilot, and relevant AI capabilities. Account for hybrid and multi-cloud environments and integration with customer data centers, networking, security, storage, and third-party platforms; address scalability, resiliency, and operational needs. Develop licensing recommendations, bills of materials, solution components, and implementation assumptions; help define requirements, scope, dependencies, assumptions, and exclusions for proposals and Statements of Work. Maintain a working understanding of Microsoft licensing, subscriptions, cloud consumption, and partner programs; coordinate with sales, licensing, procurement, operations, and partner resources on configurations and pricing. Identify opportunities to improve Microsoft adoption and customer investments through licensing optimization, cloud adoption, modernization, and improved utilization; identify related services, migration, managed services, and ongoing support opportunities. Ensure proposed solutions are technically feasible and transition effectively to delivery; collaborate with Solution Architects, Professional Services, Managed Services, Security, Infrastructure, Operations, and Project Management teams. Develop relationships with Microsoft sales, technical, and channel teams; coordinate partner expertise, funding, assessments, workshops, and other resources for customer opportunities. Maintain knowledge of Microsoft products, roadmap, cloud services, security capabilities, licensing, and competitors; support internal sales enablement and maintain relevant technical certifications. Requirements Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise technology sales and working directly with Account Executives and customers. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft technologies, particularly Azure and Microsoft 365, and experience designing or presenting cloud, hybrid infrastructure, identity, endpoint, collaboration, or security solutions.
