Jamco InteriorsFLSA Status: Exempt Summary The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading and directing all purchasing and procurement activities, including but not limited to excess inventory control, cost-reduction initiatives, supplier relationship management, on-time delivery performance, and coordination with Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Quality Assurance (QA), and Quality Control (QC). This role drives continuous improvement within the department while ensuring the organization achieves its operational, quality, and financial objectives. Essential Duties And Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Lead and develop procurement staff by directing work activities, providing training, coaching, and performance feedback. Track, analyze, and report key performance metrics to reduce costs, improve capacity, and increase departmental effectiveness. Develop and execute supplier negotiation strategies to achieve favorable pricing, quality, and delivery terms. Monitor market conditions and forecast pricing trends to identify opportunities and risks within the supply chain. Assess, manage, and mitigate supply chain risks. Identify, develop, and maintain strategic supplier partnerships. Evaluate potential suppliers based on capability, quality, capacity, and overall business fit. Review supplier quotations and negotiate contracts within established budgetary guidelines. Monitor supplier performance related to cost, quality, delivery, and service. Oversee purchasing activities to ensure material availability and support program schedules. Resolve supplier quality issues and nonconforming product concerns in collaboration with QA, QC, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Support expedited material requirements to meet operational demands. Develop, maintain, and improve documented procedures, process flows, and work instructions. Manage departmental payroll and budget activities. Approve purchase orders, debit memos, manual requisitions, and standard cost changes in accordance with company policies. Establish and implement commodity and program buyer assignments and strategies. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within purchasing and supply chain operations. Supervisory Responsibilities Responsibilities Directly supervises employees within the Purchasing Department and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: Interviewing, hiring, and onboarding employees. Training, coaching, and developing team members. Planning, assigning, and directing work. Conducting performance evaluations. Recognizing and rewarding performance. Administering disciplinary actions when necessary. Addressing employee concerns and resolving issues effectively. Required Skills And Abilities Include Strong knowledge of purchasing, supply chain, and business management principles. Advanced leadership, team development, and resource coordination skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage projects from inception through completion. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems, preferably Epicor. Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills. Demonstrated professionalism and sound business judgment. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of six (6) years of procurement or purchasing experience. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
