MEP Buyer - Supporting Commercial Mechanical Construction (HVAC, Piping and Plumbing) - Vancouver, WA Gryphon Oakwood is partnering with a leading mechanical contractor in the Pacific Northwest to appoint an MEP Buyer based in Vancouver, WA. This is an opportunity to join an established contractor supporting large-scale commercial mechanical construction projects. The successful candidate will have experience sourcing and procuring materials, equipment and components for HVAC, mechanical piping and plumbing fabrication and installation, ensuring materials are delivered on time and in line with project specifications and budgets. Candidates should have a strong understanding of mechanical construction procurement, established supplier relationships and the ability to coordinate with project management, estimating, fabrication and field teams to support successful project delivery. Requirements Established relationships with suppliers, manufacturers and distributors within the mechanical construction industry. Ability to negotiate pricing, lead times, delivery schedules and commercial terms. Ability to review project specifications, drawings, bills of materials and equipment schedules to ensure accurate purchasing. Experience coordinating with project managers, estimators, fabrication teams and field personnel. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple purchase orders, track deliveries and resolve material shortages or delays. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing, inventory management or ERP systems. Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Understanding of inventory control, material forecasting and cost management. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement or materials management within the mechanical construction or MEP industry. Previous experience working for a mechanical contractor, MEP contractor or mechanical fabrication company. Experience sourcing materials and components for commercial HVAC, mechanical piping and plumbing projects. Knowledge of mechanical construction materials, including piping, fittings, valves, ductwork, plumbing fixtures and related equipment. Familiarity with large-scale commercial projects, such as healthcare, data centres, industrial facilities or other complex buildings. Experience procuring materials for prefabricated mechanical piping and plumbing assemblies.
