Mental Health Association of RochesterRole Overview: The Medical Equipment Technician is responsible for delivering, setting up, and educating customers on home medical equipment, including oxygen and respiratory devices. They operate vehicles over 10,001 pounds, ensuring DOT compliance, and perform routine maintenance, repairs, and safety checks on equipment. The technician manages a territory to meet service goals, processes orders accurately, and provides customer education on equipment use and care. They handle emergency equipment issues, maintain patient confidentiality, and adhere to safety and regulatory standards such as OSHA, DOT, and FDA. The role involves patient assessments, documenting visits, and supporting quality improvement initiatives. On-call responsibilities and compliance with company policies are required. Physical ability to lift up to 160 pounds and perform moderate to heavy labor is essential. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent Entry-level sales/customer service experience; healthcare technician or delivery background preferred Valid driver’s license and current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate Physical ability to lift up to 85-160 pounds and perform physical labor Knowledge of HME products, regulations, and reimbursement processes Strong communication skills and customer service orientation Ability to maintain safety and compliance standards Key Duties Operate company vehicles adhering to DOT regulations Develop product knowledge and educate customers Manage service territory and deliver equipment Complete documentation and reports accurately Assist with emergency equipment issues Perform routine maintenance and repairs Ensure compliance with safety, OSHA, DOT, and FDA standards Participate in quality improvement programs and on-call duties
