Step Into a Day Leading Mechanical Innovation Picture your morning: you walk the production floor, talk with operators about a new gauge concept, and review prototype results from yesterday’s automated test cell. By midday, you’re in CAD, checking a 3D model and 2D drawings for a servo-driven fixture and confirming FEA, tolerance studies, and GD&T before release. In the afternoon, you huddle with Controls, Software Controls, and Instrumentation Engineering to finalize an integrated motion, hydraulics, and pneumatics solution. You end the day aligning the roadmap—capital projects, standards, and supplier strategy—to propel Dynamic’s remanufacturing operations forward. What You’ll Lead Provide technical and organizational leadership for Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Design teams, including Mechanical Engineers, Mechanical Designers, Design Engineers, and Technicians. Own standards, best practices, and technical roadmaps for mechanical design, industrial automation, robotics, motion control, hydraulics, pneumatics, machine safety, and systems integration. Direct the design and build of tooling, fixtures, gauges, ergonomic devices, assembly equipment, and automated test systems. Maintain and approve 3D models and 2D drawings; oversee engineering calculations, linear FEA/structural analysis, tolerance analyses, GD&T, and prototype validation. Produce and assemble mechanical fixtures and gauges and deliver solutions that enable operators to test components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies effectively. Evaluate equipment to determine repair, redesign, rebuild, replacement, or automation paths. Mentor engineers, hire and develop talent, conduct performance reviews, and build succession plans. Represent Dynamic with customers, suppliers, system integrators, and engineering partners. How You’ll Run Projects Lead multiple capital and engineering projects from concept through commissioning (scope, schedule, budget, resources, risk). Coordinate with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Maintenance, and external vendors. Drive supplier selection, equipment procurement, technical reviews, FAT, SAT, installation, and commissioning. Monitor engineering KPIs, project performance, capital spend, and resource utilization. Support new product launches through equipment development, validation, and manufacturing readiness. Apply DFM/DFA, PLM, material selection (especially metals), and 3D assembly simulation to deliver reliable, cost-effective outcomes. Champion Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, SMED/Kaizen/5S/Kanban, and root cause problem solving. Who You’ll Partner With Controls Engineering, Software Controls, Instrumentation Engineering, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and strategic suppliers to deliver robust, integrated manufacturing systems. What You’ll Bring Track record delivering complex automation and manufacturing equipment programs. Advanced capability with CAD and 3D design; linear FEA and structural analysis; PLM; DFM/DFA; prototype development; and materials engineering (metals focus). Strong leadership, project management, communication, and decision-making skills; PM certifications and/or proven delivery history. Success across all phases: inception, costing, design, implementation, troubleshooting, and delivery. Understanding across electrical, mechanical, and software engineering concepts. Sound, independent decision-making with awareness of trade-offs and outcomes. Comfort with spreadsheets, data analysis, and presentation. Education & Experience 6–10 years of progressive Engineering experience, including management of multidisciplinary teams and/or automotive manufacturing.
