We are seeking experienced Mechanical and Structural Designers to join our growing team. While positions are primarily based in our Winnipeg, Manitoba office, hybrid and remote work arrangements may be available for qualified candidates in alternate locations. In this role, you will contribute to the design and execution of engineering solutions for complex utility infrastructure projects across North America. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and construction professionals, you will support projects through all phases of development, from conceptual design to construction, while applying practical and innovative solutions to challenging technical problems. What You’ll Do Working under the direction of a Senior Engineer or Team Lead, primary responsibilities include performing 3D CAD modelling, analysis, design and drafting of high voltage transmission lines, structures, and foundations working as part of a team consisting of Modelers, Designers, and Engineers. You will design transmission line structures include monopoles, frames, and lattice towers from 66kV to 735kV. The focus of the design and modelling duties will be in support of Ampjack’s transmission line asset maintenance and upgrade contracts. Use AutoDesk Inventor to produce 3D models of new and existing structures to produce complex upgrade designs Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and technical documentation Complete structural and mechanical analysis using PLS-CADD, Tower and Pole, AutoCAD, MathCAD and other design software; experience with similar structural or mechanical design software is an asset Coordinate design and material management workflow with other engineering teams, clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders Participate in project meetings and communicate technical information to stakeholders Learn and apply the company standard design workflow for modelling, drafting and design practices Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers, where appropriate Manage assigned engineering deliverables while meeting project schedules and budgets Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, processes, and design practice Travel to project sites may be needed for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments. “Duties and Responsibilities” are intended to be an accurate reflection of the main duties essential for this position. Qualifications Technologist Diploma in either Civil/Structural, Mechanical Engineering Technology or CAD Modelling and Design. A certificate in Drafting/Design with relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
