As part of our Electric Power team, you will play a key role in delivering innovative, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions that support the evolving needs of utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), industrial facilities, mining operations, and other critical infrastructure clients. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the mechanical scope and design for power generation projects. You will develop and review power system designs, specifications, calculations, studies, and technical deliverables while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project objectives. Reporting to the Director, Electric Power you will serve as a technical leader and collaborate with engineering disciplines, customers, subcontractors, utilities, and vendors to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions. Principle Responsibilities and Duties Review and interpret customer requirements, technical specifications and project scope for electric power projects. Support the mechanical design and execution of packaged power-generation systems for power plants and other critical infrastructure applications. Develop piping, insulation and mechanical specifications based on project requirements. Develop mechanical layouts and prepare or approve P&IDs, process flow diagrams and general arrangement drawings. Review and approve piping isometrics and other fabrication drawings extracted from 3D models. Review and validate 2D and 3D designs for mechanical and piping systems. Prepare and review specifications and requisitions for piping, mechanical equipment and purchased components. Prepare mechanical scopes of work for equipment suppliers, contractors and fabrication subcontractors. Provide technical information for purchase requisitions and Bills of Materials. Perform engineering calculations and prepare mechanical equipment data sheets. Perform equipment selection and sizing, including pumps, heat-transfer equipment and balance-of-plant components. Collaborate on the design and implementation of fuel gas, cooling, lubrication oil, exhaust, condensate, piping and other mechanical systems used in packaged power-generation applications. Represent the mechanical engineering discipline during design reviews, technical meetings and manufacturing kick-off meetings. Work closely with Project Management, Project Engineering, Proposals, Design and Drafting, Procurement and Manufacturing throughout project execution. Provide technical support to manufacturing and fabrication facilities during project execution. Respond to technical questions and help resolve design or fabrication issues. Support factory testing, commissioning and troubleshooting activities as required. Assist project teams with technical requirements, design changes and scope clarifications. Ensure engineering deliverables are accurate, complete, within scope and compliant with applicable quality procedures, project plans, codes and standards. Contribute to design standardization, lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Current registration as a P.Eng. in a Canadian province with a minimum of 5 years of experience in power system design. Minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience. Experience in power generation, packaged equipment, energy or industrial engineering projects is preferred. Experience supporting power solutions for power plants or other critical infrastructure is considered an asset. Knowledge of natural-gas engine-generator systems and associated mechanical systems is considered an asset.…
