Mechanic/Fleet Manager Lake Ridge Parks and Recreation Association (LRPRA) Location: Lake Ridge, Virginia 22192 Employment Type: Full-time Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Starting Salary: $70,000 (or based on experience) + benefits About the Position : Lake Ridge Parks and Recreation Association is seeking a skilled, dependable, organized, and self-motivated Mechanic/Fleet Manager to join our Facilities & Maintenance team. This position is primarily responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of the Association's grounds-maintenance and seasonal equipment. The successful candidate will be comfortable working on a wide range of commercial equipment and small engines and will take ownership of keeping the Association's equipment fleet safe, reliable, and ready for daily operations. The position will also provide secondary maintenance and repair support for the Association's fleet of Ford vehicles. Primary Responsibilities – Equipment Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair a wide variety of commercial grounds-maintenance and small-engine equipment. Perform preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and extend equipment life. Service and repair: Toro Z-Turn mowers Exmark mowers Bobcat Kubota tractors Chainsaws/ Pole Saws Snowblowers / Boss snow plows String trimmers / Stick edgers Backpack blowers Other on-site commercial landscaping and grounds-maintenance equipment and attachments Identify mechanical, electrical, and engine-related problems and determine appropriate repairs. Maintain equipment in a safe, clean, reliable, and operational condition. Prepare equipment for seasonal operations, including mowing, landscaping, and snow removal. Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, parts, and service history. Monitor equipment condition and identify potential problems before they result in costly failures. Keep the maintenance shop, tools, parts, and equipment organized. Coordinate parts and supplies required for repairs and preventative maintenance. Work closely with the Facilities & Maintenance teams to ensure equipment is available when needed. Secondary Responsibilities – Vehicle Fleet Provide maintenance and repair support for the Association's fleet of Ford vehicles. Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs on fleet vehicles. Diagnose mechanical issues and coordinate more specialized repairs when necessary. Maintain vehicle service and maintenance records. Monitor vehicle condition and report major repair or replacement needs. Help ensure Association vehicles remain safe, reliable, and available for daily operations. Qualifications & Skills The ideal candidate will have: Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship. Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Demonstrated experience working on commercial grounds-maintenance equipment and small engines. Experience with equipment such as Toro, Exmark, Kubota, and similar commercial brands. Experience with chainsaws, snowblowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, and related equipment. Automotive mechanical experience, preferably with Ford vehicles. Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate maintenance records. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. A self-motivated, dependable, and team-oriented work ethic. Ability to prioritize equipment repairs and preventative maintenance according to operational needs. Ability to provide and maintain their own professional tools appropriate for the position. Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with mechanical and equipment maintenance. Valid and insurable Virginia driver’s license.
